BMW has recalled 109,000 units of its 5 Series and 6 Series models in the UK which were built between 2003 and 2012 due to the incorrect fitment of a battery cable cover.
The German brand said that in extreme cases the fault could cause a fire, but no injuries or accidents have been reported.
The UK recalls is part of a global recall of 1.3 million cars in total.
Customers have been contacted and asked to visit their local dealer for a free repair which takes 30 minutes.
