A paint protection product is helping new car dealers to boost aftersales profits by “thousands of pounds” for minimal financial outlay, claims its supplier.

Amazing Glaze, supplied in the UK by Kent-based Jorell UK, guarantees total car paintwork protection for three years. A two-year trial involving 20 franchised dealers showed that 51% of customers purchased Amazing Glaze for their new vehicles, returning on average a 49% margin on sales.

Jorell UK managing director Tony Rodwell said: “One critical factor attracting dealers is that we have no preconditions to the three-year warranty - it provides complete cover with no obligations, for example regular inspections.”

One Amazing Glaze application costs dealers £30-£40, but they typically charge customers £150-£200. Mr Rodwell hopes to form a 200-strong dealer network this year, rising to 500 by the end of 2001.
