DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The Electrical R&D department is responsible for all future electrical systems researching, developing, delivering, and validating electrical components.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Development of Connected Car -Telematics Test Engineer
Engineer parts to cost, time and weight targets, including developing commodity timing plan to support the delivery of 'Mission' milestone actions.
Understand technology trends and generate system proposals for inclusion in future programmes.
Produce and control supporting design documentation to demonstrate a robust development process.
To include Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Design Verification Plans, Engineering Release, Concern Resolution, and sign-off reports.
Prepare and present strategy and status reports to senior management.
Support vehicles build and launch activities. Investigate, contain, and resolve issues as they arise.
Support Purchasing department in defining future commodity strategy.
On Vehicle testing and integration
Manage the Bill of Materials for your components
Project manage the suppliers.
Conduct whole vehicle testing for your systems and features both within & outside of the UK, focusing on customer acceptance.
Support prototypes build and test vehicle preparation.
Work with a cross-functional team to ensure that all stakeholders deliver the support required to provide your systems on time and within budget.
Keep up to date with industry developments are the responsibility.
MANAGEMENT
Experience in delivering Electrical or Electronics systems, including quality, cost, function, weight and timing.
Experience in vehicle-level system integration in terms of hardware and software. Knowledge of automotive development processes, including Software development processes and managing supplier deliveries into a project.
RELATIONSHIPS
Internal:
Develop relationships with the design, marketing, and vehicle engineering teams to ensure efficient and effective delivery of your systems and components.
External:
Develop relationships with your key suppliers to manage your deliveries effectively.
BUDGETARY ACCOUNTABILITY
Manage your budgets to ensure that all costs are controlled and stay within your agreed budgets.
PROBLEM-SOLVING & ACCOUNTABILITY
You will be accountable for managing your deliverables to ensure quality, cost, weight, function, and timing requirements are all met in this role. You will employ the problem-solving techniques required to ensure you meet the above.
You will report to the HMI Components Manager.
CONSTRAINTS
Must be permitted to work in the UK
Must hold a UK driver license

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
Experience in delivering to production: Connected Car -Telematics Test Engineer
Experience in Electrical or Electronics commodities (quality, cost, function, weight, and timing).
Understanding of vehicle level system integration in terms of hardware and software).
Knowledge of software development processes and managing software delivery
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Extensive knowledge of automotive development systems, e.g., releasing.
Supplier management experience
Complete understanding of the Product Development cycle from concept to launch completion
Technical engineering background and comprehensive knowledge of using calculation and analysis to drive design.
Automotive quality tools and processes.
The extensive ability of the manufacturing processes to create the components or systems.
