Aston Barclay has appointed former BCA and Manheim manager Danny Healey to boost its commercial vehicle sales in the new position of head of LCV development.

Healey will be responsible for building the independent used vehicle remarketing specialist’s vendor and buyer base as well as its auction programme in his new role.

Aston Barclay said that its new recruit, who joins from a general manager role at Cox Automotive’s Manheim remarketing division, brings with him over 38 years’ experience in the auction industry, adding that he has “an in-depth knowledge of the LCV remarketing sector”.

Commenting on his appointment, Healey said: “Aston Barclay has been growing its LCV business for a while now and has built up a good reputation with both buyers and vendors.

“It is an exciting opportunity to further grow this area of the auction business by using my expertise and contacts. I look forward to working with the team.”

Healey’s appointment follows Aston Barclay’s recent addition of a fourth LCV sale at Chelmsford during October.

The new sales joins Leeds, Westbury and Donington in disposing of hundreds of LCVs each week.

Back in October Aston Barclay reported that used van values were on the rise.

Values of used vans rose for the first time this year during Q3 after a slight decline in prices during the first seven months of the year, it said.

The remarketing firm said that despite the average age and mileage of vehicles sold remaining higher than two years ago, the used van price cap of £8,023 still smashes the £6,204 cap of Q3 of 2020.

Mark Hankey, Aston Barclay’s chief revenue officer said: “We are pleased to welcome Danny to the team.

“With his huge amount of experience and knowledge he is the perfect person to further grow our LCV business.”
